Edo State Governor Oshiomhole sacks two new Perm Secs over lateness

The Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole today July 24th reversed the appointments of two Permanent Secretaries for coming late to their swearing-in ceremony.

According to Channels TV, the two appointees along with 18 other would-be Perm Secs were expected to have been seated at 12 noon for the swearing-in ceremony which was billed for 1pm but when the Governor arrived at 12.23pm, the two men were not there.

The Wife of Prof. Wole Soyinka, Folake Soyinka recently opened up on their love story in an interview with The News magazine where she revealed how she and the Nobel laureate met and her parents initial objection to their relationship.

"There were objections from everywhere except from my sisters and brother who were happy if I was. I also had the support of his siblings here. My parents along with most of my relatives objected, not because of anything, they just felt he was too famous and too accomplished. They worried about that. But within a few months after we were married, my parents had changed their mind and they loved him until they passed away. His close friends didn't have a problem with it but also everyone had an opinion. Then came the Nobel Prize in 1986 and that derailed everything for a couple of years. More than a quarter of a century later, those opinions didn't count, we are still trudging along. I have enjoyed love because of him" she said

A four-man gang said to be kidnappers stormed Oshodi under bridge on Saturday, snatching a young woman at gunpoint.

One of them was reported to have worn the uniform usually used by officials of the anti-robbery squad.

Our correspondent gathered that the victim was walking along with her mother when she was confronted by the men. It was said that the mother was threatened with a gun when she wanted to defend her daughter.

It was learnt that the gang, who were said to have arrived at the Oshodi area around 2.30pm, whisked the woman away in a Honda Pilot jeep.

PUNCH Metro also learnt that the young woman struggled to avoid being abducted by snatching handcuffs from one of the abductors and smashing it on his head.

Photo: 18 years old teen arrested after his mum is found hurt & younger brother dead

18 year old Nigerian teen has been arrested after his doctor mum was found seriously injured and his younger brother found dead beside her at their home in Dix Hill, Long Island, New York.

Their dad returned home on Saturday night July 19th to discover 15 year old Bradley Okonkwo (pictured centre) dead in their apartment, and his wife, Dr Chinwe Okonkwo (pictured left) suffering from severe head wounds. He immediately called the police who arrived the scene shortly afterwards.

Charles Okonkwo jnr (pictured right), who'd left the home shortly after the incident, was eventually arrested near the family home, and has been charged for attacking his mother. He is yet to be charged for his brother's death, though he confessed to 'hurting his mother and his brother'.

So they began the exercise, he dipped the young guy in the pool and placed his legs on his shoulder, it got to the point where the young man couldn’t hold it, he waved his hands but the expert ignored him, it got to the point where he was close to dying so he forced his way out of the water panting heavily, then he protested and asked the expert, why didn’t you keep to your word?

You promised to let me out when I wave my hand, you said you were going to let me out, the expert calmed him and replied saying,  the time you waved your hands, you wish to be out, but when you forced your way out, was when you strongly desired to live.

3 Year Old Little Girl Young Filipino Girl Wakes Up At Her Own Funeral

Hum! Mourners were shocked to the marrow when they discovered that the young 3-year old little girl who was pronounced dead a day before her funeral suddenly woke up after a priest was preparing to administer the last sacrament. 

The girl from Aurora, Zamboanga del Sur in the Philippines was pronounced dead at 9am on Friday, 11th of July, and was set for burial at 1pm on Saturday before shaking a part of her body and finally opening her eyes.

Mourners who had gathered for her burial started recording the unbelievable scenes as her family and loved ones rejoice over the miracle.
